Fast and Accurate Environment Modelling using Omnidirectional Vision
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes an algorithm to detect obstacles and landmarks, using the omnidirectional vision system of a RoboCup robot, to build an internal representation of the robot’s environment. The restriction to pixels corresponding to an equally spaced grid on the floor around the robot and a biologically inspired fault-tolerant colour segmentation of this grid result in a fast and robust detection. The performance of the environment modelling concerning computation time and accuracy is addressed by comparing experimental results to object positions given by an absolute positioning system.

The helicopter-borne electromagnetic (HEM) frequency-domain exploration method is an airborne electromagnetic (AEM) technique that is widely used for vast and rough areas for resistivity imaging. The vast amount of digitized data flowing from the HEM method requires an efficient and accurate inversion algorithm. Generally, the inverse modelling of HEM data in the first step requires a precise a...
متن کاملAn omnidirectional vision sensor for fast tracking for mobile robots
We present an omnidirectional vision system we have implemented to provide our mobile robot Rullit with a fast tracking capability. Rullit has to recognize elements in a semi-structured environment (the soccer field of Robocup) at a rate close to 20 Hz. We have designed a multi-shaped mirror to optimize the resolution of the image and its coverage. The interpretation system is based on focused,...
